Folks,

I'm having a problem with automatic refresh of a display.
The standard way of doing this is to use the INVITE keyword
on the DDS (testinvd) for the display file:

     A DSPSIZ(24 80)
     A CA03
     A R DUMMY ASSUME
     A 1 2 ' '
     A R SCREEN OVERLAY
     A INVITE
     A 1 17' JCR- TEST REFRESH WAIT'
     A COUNT 3S 0B 4 4
     A 10 13'Compile this dspf with the
WAITRCD-
A value set to the number'
A 11 13'of seconds you wish to delay.'

then the following RPG ILE program counts up the COUNT with automatic
refresh of the display every WAITRCD seconds until you hit PFKEY 3:

     Ftestinvd cf e workstn
     F maxdev(*file)
     F devid(pgmdev)
     C dow not *inkc
     C add 1 count
     C write screen
     C read testinvd 9999
     C kc leave
     C enddo
     C eval *inlr=*on

this works fine for a "normal" display, but does NOT work for
the async console. Probably because the maxdev parm
having no effect for the console or some such stupid thing.

Second problem:
an RPG/400 version of the above.

Third problem:
How to avoid the erasure of the screen when the
RPG program returns.

TIA
Leif Svalgaard
