Al,
I thought that also. I am running NT boxes with Ops Console on 2 820DSD
machines.
Once it was configured, it has worked well. We do not have the Control Panel
cables yet, so we cannot rate that side.

Downsides:
1. Rochester delivered machines with WAN IOP card and new iSeries internal modem
card swapped in slots C4 and C6. Since we have to have the WAN card in a
specific
slot, Ops Console would not function.
2. Twinax adapter was installed in the 3rd frame, so we could not use a twinax
console either.
3. The Remote Panel cable requires a parralel port, but I was under the
impression
that it required an additional serial slot, so purchasing acquire 2 new
non0standard PCs with 2 serial ports. (I know, adding a card to a company
standard
PC was much cheaper, but another dept handled configuring the PCs.) I do not
know
if I was mistaken, used old documentation, or the cable connection varies by
machine type.
4. Did have to call Support Line, they identified the card slot problem, and
also
showed how to reset the WAN card through the control panel. They were most
helpful.

This was all at V4R5
