OK...I thought it was the string processing you were interested in.  If the
data is static, it's pretty easy to cook up an artificial test scenario to
use in a batch program.  The relation between the execution speeds should
remain constant for something like processing the same set of data in memory
an arbitrary number of times regardless of it being interactive or batch.
