A reload should not be necessary.  The system located disk by serial # and would know none were missing.

My Esteemed Colleagues:

On a 170 if you replace a Non-Raid controller with a Raid controller
would the system care? In other words would a re-load be required?
Certainly if IBM replaces a failed card of the same type there is no
reload but I'm just not sure about putting in a different feature card
with more capabilities. This is one thing I've never done. Of course
backups are an absolute prerequisite in any case.
