  Problem is I don't think he has any place to put said controller.
There is only one reserved slot for Disk IOPs in the 50xx expansion
towers and it runs all disks in the attached top hat. Therefore he'll
need another expansion tower, top hat, AND disk controller. In which
case he wouldn't need to remove the 4GB drives at all!  While I Agree
that it'd be safer and faster, it'll not be cheaper!

  Reminds me of the old adage, you can have any two of Fast, Cheap, and
Correct, but not all three!
