What about adding a name server? Names are nice because people remember
them, and they can travel with a user. All kinds of naming schemes are
used already but its always fun to invent your own.

Hi All,

We have a requirement to pass files from the 400 directly to PC's (and
back) without using Client Access (or Express). We know we could use FTP
but that adds a layer of complexity in that we would need to know the
TCP/IP address of each PC ahead of time. Every time a new PC was added at
a
clients site, we would have to somehow know the new TCP/IP address of that
PC. This doesn't seem workable (but maybe someone has some ideas?).

Currently, we are using CPYTOPCD to the IFS and mapping a drive to get it
to the PC. But you can't map a drive without cliend access.

Any ideas? How about what manuals to describe the process (or is it really
easy and we are just dense?).

Ron Hawkins
