1) one variable key given by starting position and length
2) batch I guess (will kill interactive -- I guess -- could be a good CFINT1
exerciser :-)  )
3) several times on demand
4) max time?  as quickly as possible. I mean, if it has to done, it has to be
done.
anything like SYNCSORT as on the z900 ?
