Can you use a PC to print to a Shared AS400 printer specifying ASCII pass
thru on the printer driver. I do this by sharing HP printer via Netserver
and using the appropriate Windows drivers.

Subject: Printing a PDF file on an AS/400 printer

We are converting AS/400 spool files to PDF files for e-mailing and it works
great! (We use Spool-a-matic from Gumbo Software because it handles SCS and
AFP print streams and is strictly AS/400 - no downloading to PC's, etc.)
Now, I'd like to know if anyone has come up with a program that will let me
print that PDF file (an IFS stream file) to an AS/400-attached printer. I'd
like to print to an HP laser printer (HP 4) which is attached with a
Extended Systems' ExtendNet print server, and serviced using a remote outq.
Anyone done this, thought about how this might be done, or interested in
writing a program to do it?
If you're wondering why I don't just print the original spool file directly,
it's because it is AFP and has a lot of stuff in it that Host Print
Transform doesn't handle well.

Thanks,

Dave
