It cannot be a RMTWTR, you cannot put IPDS on them.

The definition must be a *DEVPRT, which already is for Pascal, as the file is in status PND. This also shows us that the OUTQ is released; otherwise it should have been status RDY.

Pascal, my opinions:

1 – check if the printer is IPDS enabled by default (maybe not)

2 – if not, check if it accepts IPDS hardware modules

3 – if not, check the IPDS software solutions, on the list archives

4 – in any case, check the connection. Is it TCP/IP ?

Did you start the remote writer? (STRRMTWTR)

Is the output queue on hold?  If so, RLSOUTQ

I've just configured a Ricoh Aficio 220 printer on the AS/400 to be IPDS capable, following the instructions an article in AS/400 Network magazine ("IPDS printer configuration for TCP/IP", August 1999, article ID:288).  I've sent a document to that printer.  The spooled file is in the printer's outq with status "RDY" but it won't print.

I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that the document that has been sent to the printer is NOT an AFP printer file.

Or maybe something wen't wrong while creating the device description.

Or it is simply because the printer is not IPDS compatible?  Or is there a personnalization object I need to use for that type of printer?
