Isn't this IBM's solution ?   (I haven't used it - used to be called RDARS
I think)

I  entirely agree with you and that's the point I've been making.  Other's
have indicated that it should be easy for IBM to create this SAV/RST
process for  a spooled file but I feel it will not be nearly that easy if
it is a complete  solution.  Obviously, if all they want is the spool file
data then they  could roll their own using API's, etc.
