I entirely agree with you and that's the point I've been making.  Other's have indicated that it should be easy for IBM to create this SAV/RST process for a spooled file but I feel it will not be nearly that easy if it is a complete solution.  Obviously, if all they want is the spool file data then they could roll their own using API's, etc.

Dave - Personally I want more than just the spool file data... I would like to have a true save/restore process for a spool file. There is a big difference.
 
Recreating a spool file from a copy of its data is only part of the process.
 
An example: I would like to restore a spool file and have it's attributes indicate "when it was originally created", "who created it" and "what job it was create in"...
 
The available API's can't restore this kind of information, they can only recreate a spool files data.

As someone else mentioned, if all you need is the spool file data, there are already API's that will allow you to do this.  Why do we need IBM to do it?
