  • Subject: ODBC Connection to AS/400 using wrong user

All,

CA V4R4 SP: SF63638

I have a simple need: I want an ODBC connection to the AS/400 that uses
whatever user logged on to the AS/400 when the initial connection was made.

However, if I say prompt every time then I get a message in the Client
access history log that says "User id is invalid."

If however I say Use default and prompt then this works fine IF the user
that connects to the AS/400 is the same as the user specified here.

However, if the user that connects to the AS/400 isn't the user specified as
the default then the connection attempts to use the connected user's
password with the default user id. For example: Default user is GEORGE and
GRACIE logs on to AS/400. The ODBC connection will attempt to connect with a
user id of GEORGE but using GRACIE's password -- needless to say this won't
work.

Any ideas?
