I'm not entirely clear as to what you need to accomplish, but see if this 
helps any.

If you have a pointer to external data, like a user space, you can define a 
based data structure and assign its address to the address of the space:

   D @Space            * Inz(*Null)
   D Space       DS      Based(@Space)
   D  Data1          10
   D  Data2   etc

   C       eval @Space = ExtPtr
       or
   C       eval @Space = %Addr(ExtSpace)
       or
   C       call 'QUSPTRUS'
   C       parm             SpaceName
   C       parm             @Space

Once you have assigned the address of the based field or structure, you can 
use it just as though it was an internal program variable. QUSPTRUS is an 
API that will return a pointer to a user space.
