Jim, this is reaching way back.... 

I think if you look in the library #LIBRARY you may see an object named 
OFF.  You could try renaming it and then sign on a session and choose 24 
on the menu.  I have an idea you will get a boomer from the system, but 
that's a good thing.  Then you can make your own OFF.

Actually, on just about every menu we have on the system, option 24 is 
"Off".
I was hoping to change this command (thinking it was one of ours, not one 
of IBM's) in
one spot so that when anyone either typed "Off" or selected #24 from a 
menu it would
either ENDPASTHR or do a SIGNOFF.

Apparently, it looks like this is not to be the case and I am going to 
have to modify every
single menu we have on the system (tons of them).

Okay, next step, can anyone think of a way to kludge the S/36 environment 
to run my Off
command instead of the built in S/36 Off command?

I am sure you have thought of this but you could create a command and add
it to the menu.  By creating it yourself you could call it OFF or anything
else you wanted.
