Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to create batch files on AS400
- like the .bat files in MSDOS, or the shell files in UNIX. I am having
trouble issuing large commands from the 5250 emulation screen which only
allows two-lines of commands at a time.
Thanks.

Use a CLP program, there should be a QCLSRC file in qgpl,

The easiest way to do this is to STRPDM, option 3 work with members.

Create a new member with the name you desire, make sure the attribute is CLP

The First source line will need to be " PGM" the final will be ENDPGM.
Your process goes in the middle.

    PGM

commands (remember to CMD4 prompt to get all the Options)

ENDPGM.

You save and then compile it.

Then you may call it or use a SBMJOB to call it in batch. It also may added
to the Job Sheduled entries. However I would really suggest you find a class
and books for AS/400 operation and CLP programming. IBM web site has some you
can download, but they are not beginner friendly.
