Title: RE: Best method for moving AS/400 data to PC

I am using the same program from Kemetech Systems (and have been for some time now) with no problems.  What isn't working?  What are your error messages?  Have you checked the simple things, such as authority of the directory you're creating the XLS file in?

I downloaded and tested a program from Kemetech systems that will create an XLS
file on your AS/400.  It is supposed to be able to write the .XLS file to the
IFS, but they have been unable to get it to work on my system.

The package also supports writing to a DBF in the QSYS file system, but that
still requires a client access transfer.   Client access will do that on its own
though.

I guess they are still working on it though I haven't heard from them in over a
week.

Last week or the week before JPCarr posted the code to do exactly that. It
makes a .csv file for you.

We are building an interface from our Infinium Payables Ledger to ADP
payroll for ACH payments (i.e. direct deposit of employee expense
checks).

We are reviewing the various possibilities of moving AS/400 data to PC
for ADP.

Known options are FTP, Client Access - execute remote command, ODBC, and
various third party packages (ex. Paul Conte's Commando?)

Can anyone offer any advice as to which would be preferred method and
why?

We are trying to automate as much as possible (i.e. not force conscious
effort on part of end user to run multiple manual commands), while
keeping recovery options in mind.

Any and all input is appreciated.  TIA

Regards,
Cynthia
