I am trying to deploy many ODBC products (using Excel & MS Query as a portal
to the AS/400 database instead of paper reports). However, as you can
imagine, the performance is a bit slow on my current 310. As I prepare to
upgrade to the 7xx box, I need to figure in future expanded use of ODBC
connections and client-server applications.

Does the ODBC connection and subsequent database lookups between the PC and
the AS/400 draw on the interactive portion of the processor or the batch
processor? Should I scale my interactive larger for anticipated PC-hits, or
will the batch side of the system handle these requests?
