Title: Interesting...

I just saw this job posting, and thought it was interesting.  I know this is not the Jobs list, but I thought it was worth sharing, given all the darn "State of the Midrange" emails.  Looks like the "State of the Midrange" at this place is going strong!  You don't usually hear of a shop migrating from a hybrid system to a 100% AS/400 system do you?  Seems to me most places are migrating off the 400 onto other systems.  But, hey, for all you gung-ho AS/400ers out there, maybe this job would interest you...

        Transamerica Real Estate Tax Service
        Manager, App Dev (AS/400, DB2)
        Location: US-TX-Dallas
        Job Description:

For a seasoned manager with a solid knowledge of the application development lifecycle, and a strong background in an AS/400 environment, we think this is      one of those rare, "right-place-at-the-right-time" opportunities to step into a visible leadership role with a world-class organization that is helping to define the   term "cutting edge" within our industry. From developing timelines and allocating resources, to driving development efforts and communicating with customers    and internal groups, you will lead a team of 4-6 seasoned developers, and, in close partnership with the Director of Enterprise Development Services, have      "soup-to-nuts" responsibility for our migration from a hybrid system (AS/400, MVS, NT) with twelve distinct application areas to a pure AS/400 environment.
