Title: RE: "State of the Midrange" by Don Rima

I really hope this doesn't shoot off into a tangent about Napster.  Also, can we stick to AS/400 related advice/questions/problems rather than rants and flames about IBM?  Just a suggestion.  Don't get offended out there.

Thanks,

Napstar users don't care about Napstar.  They care about getting free tunes
whether it's through Napstar or someone else.  It's not the company, it's
the music.

Big difference between Napster users and AS/400 users is that Napster
users really cared what became of Napster; without exception folks from
your average downloader to industry big-wigs like Laporte.  They cared,
one way or the other for it or against it.

I have heard it said on this list and others: "well I don't care if I
work on the 400 or an NT box", or "I don't care if it's Java or RPG".
You have industry reporters who seem to have put a contract out on the
AS/400 and users who would just as soon be working with another
platform.

Of the few people on this and other lists who really care, how many will
take the time to hunt down and write the people at IBM and complain, a
very small number I would bet.
