another way:
create a little file called ONOFF
with two fields, OOVAL (alpha 1), and OOTEXT (alpha3)
use a dfu to create the two records
0 OFF
1 ON
in the qry, join each feild that you wish to xlate
to OOVAL (you will need three joins with ONOFF),
and pick up the required OOTEXT.
