Paudie,

We use DataMirror very extensively here. We have DataMirror in its own
subsystem and shared memory pool using the *CALC option. We've created
several targets out of one library for mirroring. But this can only be
accomplished by understanding the use of ALL your files. We've set the
journaling up so that WE control WHEN the receivers change. This way we
know when the CPU usage will be high. The multithreading process allowed
Datamirror to 'keep up' with the mirror process to our NT servers. We
changed the D_MIRROR/D_MIRROR *CLS object to set the PURGE to *NO, the RUN
PRIORITY to 40 and also adjusted the timeslice.
Use the DSPJRN command with your journal and library and you'll see the
files being journaled, what job changed the file, and when it was changed.
You might not necessarily need to mirror EVERY file from your system,
especially if you're using a SQL database on NT. We've found that our
master files from the AS/400 gave us practically all the data we needed to
create the SQL database and thus provide reporting and queries to our
customers and management.

DataMirror and journaling for it are very time consuming to setup but it
will run well.
Hope this helped. Feel free to contact me offline if you want to discuss
Datamirror further. Also, check their site www.datamirror.com. Some of
their tips might help you. Their tech support staff is VERY thin on AS/400.
