Got me thinking. So I jazzed up my signon display. Fine, but now it needs
to be maintained as the coolness (to me) of this method is the ability to
send variable information to the users through the sign on screen. So I
wrote a program to maintain the contents of the layout I settled on, using
the QC2LE system proc to do the CHGMSGD's. But the problem is I can't find
a way to retrieve the existing msgd's to populate the screen with at
startup.

Is there an API or some other method (other than dspmsgd to *print and the
read the output) to get the first level message info into my program to
populate the 'Usage "B"' fields in a DSPF?

This is a cool deal, signon screens that can be changed without recompiling.
Just change the msgd's. With *libl on the dspf keyword you can have as many
varieties as you have library/msgf, for example every subsystem.
