Oops.  Sorry.  That I just double-checked and that wasn't quite the same error 
message we had.  
Our message was "425 Can't open data connection."   The SENDPASV cures that one 
if it 
happens.  hth

We've had that issue at our shop.  Try issuing a "SENDPASV" command as soon as 
you are 
 signed-on to the PC.  That helped us. 

i.e. 

ftp <remote address>  
login <userid> <password> 
sendpasv 
put... 
get... 
: 
: 
quit

Yes, I've reviewed the archives from this list before asking....... 
 
I'm running a batch ftp program to send some files from our AS/400 to my PC. 
I have a ftp server running on my PC. 
 
Here's the output:

 200 Type is ASCII (No subclass parameter defined, Non-Print used as def 
 227 Entering Passive Mode (10,1,1,26,5,136) 
 150 Opening ASCII NO-PRINT mode data connection for ls -l.

 drwxrwxrwx 1 ftp ftp 0 Jan 1 1990 a 
 drwxrwxrwx 1 ftp ftp 0 Jan 1 1990 c 
 drwxrwxrwx 1 ftp ftp 0 Jan 1 1990 d 
 226 Transfer finished successfully. Data connection closed. 
 200 Type is Image (Binary) 
 Enter an FTP subcommand. 
 > PUT POLLIB/ATPBMUSE 
 227 Entering Passive Mode (10,1,1,26,5,137)  
501 Permission denied. 
 Enter an FTP subcommand.

I get permission denied on both the PUT & GET. 
The POLLIB/ATPBMUSE file does exist on the AS/400, and 
I created a bogus file on C:\ATPBMUSE just to see if I could get this working 
in  
either direction. What could be causing this?
