Chuck,

We had one of those for a while at my old job. The frustration level got
high enough that we traded it for a 3570-C02.

My advice? If you can't trade it, shoot the thing and put it out of YOUR
misery! <grin>

Seriously, once the problems started (similar to yours) IBM could never seem
to fix it. And of course the only way they would replace it was via the
SPENDMONEY command...

Hi folks,

Sounding like a broken record, "I HATE the 9427, I HATE the 9427..."

We backup key data EVERY night prior to our EOD processing. Last night
was EOM and we run a CL that backups THE vendor library on an EOM tape
prior to the EOD run (this same library then gets saved in the EOD
backup along with a TON of others...).

So what we have is the EOM tape is in the FIRST slot.
The EOD tape is in the SECOND slot.

The EOM CL runs and saves the ONE library.
Then it TRIES to unload the tape (actually moves it back into the
cartridge holder) but fails to load the EOD tape...

IBM has looked at the unit because it did this 2 weeks ago. We load two
EOD save tapes for the weekend since we have no one here then. One runs
Saturday EARLY a.m. and the other Monday EARLY a.m. It worked FINE this
past weekend.

The unit gets a "move error" and logs NOTHING helpful in the tape units
error logs...

Anyone familiar with these things ?
