Addendum:

If you buy Sequel from ASC, one of the tools included is a CL command for
executing SQL statements that is equivalent in function to OPNQRYF.
Logically enough, the command is named OPNSQLF.  I've never heard of anyone
else offering anything comparable.

RPG with /EXEC - yes.

CL - no, but you could use OPNQRYF (Open Query File) CL does not have a
pre-processor for SQL.

Performance - yes, better with SETLL and CHAIN.
(still in most cases, although I call it a wash, significantly less
programming effort with SQL)
