Brad,
When IP forwarding was enabled on the firewall, was an external IP address
added to the AS400?
Without IP forwarding, the firewall was probably using NAT to convert public
addresses to private addresses on your internal network. When you change to
use forwarding the public address requested is passed through unchanged. You
would also need a route back to the gateway for external IP addresses.
