  • Subject: EBCDIC/ASCII conversions CPYTOIMPF
  • From: "Goodbar, Loyd (AFS-Water Valley)" <LGoodbar@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I'm using the CPYTOIMPF command to create a comma seperated file to be
loaded into Excel. I'm copying to the QDLS folder, which will be mapped to a
local drive in Windows. However, no EBCDIC-ASCII translation appears to take
place. I'm suppoed to use the CCSID parameter to specify a CCSID for the
created file:

                         Copy To Import File (CPYTOIMPF)

 Type choices, press Enter.

 From file:

   File . . . . . . . . . . . . . > PIVPCAT       Name

     Library  . . . . . . . . . . >   PROD_MOD    Name, *LIBL, *CURLIB

   Member . . . . . . . . . . . .   *FIRST        Name, *FIRST

 To data base file:

   File . . . . . . . . . . . . .                 Name

     Library  . . . . . . . . . .     *LIBL       Name, *LIBL, *CURLIB

   Member . . . . . . . . . . . .   *FIRST        Name, *FIRST

 To stream file . . . . . . . . . > '/QDLS/TEMP/parts.csv'

 Replace or add records . . . . . > *REPLACE      *ADD, *REPLACE

 To CCSID . . . . . . . . . . . . > 367           1-65533, *FILE

 Record delimiter . . . . . . . . > *CRLF         Character value, *EOR...

 Record format of import file . . *DLM *DLM, *FIXED

Bottom
 F3=Exit   F4=Prompt   F5=Refresh   F12=Cancel   F13=How to use this display

 F24=More keys

However, I see gibberish when I look at this file in Excel, notepad, etc.

CCSID 367 is the US ASCII ID, if I remember correctly.

Hopefully I'm missing something easy..

Thanks!
Loyd
