Dave,

I'm sure it does. I remember at V1R1 when I tried to port some S/36
SEU user-defined formats over to OS/400. I couldn't recreate all the
same features as I had grown accustomed to by modifying $SFGR formats
on the S/36. Yet I knew the IBM formats could accomplish some of the
stuff not definable for user formats.

So I reverse engineered the QASUUSRPMT file and discovered SEU did
some really "interesting" things with storing part of the 5250 data
stream in the file, but manipulating the stream on-the-fly for things
like you current upper/lowercase toggle setting.

I ended up writing a program to read the S/36 $SFGR source for my
modified SEU/36 formats, and creating records in QASUURPMT directly by
creating the 5250 data streams and such to match what SEU/400
expected. It gave me many more options for controlling field
attributes and things then I could define under SEU. But once the
records were there, SEU displayed them fine.

But that was in 1988. In 1990 I decided to switch to a PC editor, and
I've never regretted it.
