directed at you.  I also realize that the price of various tools was 
lowered recently.

  Today's software marketing model (at for the "mass appeal" types of 
programs) requires you to get a large customer base and hope that you make 
it up in volume, follow-on services, upgrades, etc.  IBM's apparent policy 
of recouping their R&D on the first generation of purchasers and/or the 
largest customers is passe' and is, IMHO, largely contributing to people 
looking elsewhere for solutions.
