Change your DDS and use CHGPF to change the file, it can take awhile if the
file has a large number of records because it is copying the file behind the
scenes.  Nobody can be using the file at the time.  We use CHGPF to make
almost all database changes anymore, even across several 400's using DDM to
point to the source.  And no, changing a column heading does not cause a
level check so you don't have to recompile any programs.
