Re: What are a programmer's rights to what he writes?

I am curious though about one part of your comment "the programmers would work 
long hours and 
still only get their salary.".  How did Year-end wages compare?  After the time 
and a half was added 
in, did the union workers earn anywhere near what the programmers earned 
on "only their salaries"??  I'm not a union guy in any way but for most 
union people, even after everything is added in, they still don't make all 
that much money.

Al,

    Did some work for a shop right here in the good ol' USA where this 
was the case.  Programmers couldn't mount tapes or do anything in the 
computer room (OK, the mounting tapes thing shows how long ago this 
was :)

    BTW, at this company the programmers were NOT unionized, only the 
operators.  The operators got shift differentials, time and a half 
overtime, etc.  Many times the programmers would work long hours and 
still only get their salary.
