If I remember rightly, 34 is some sort of input error; is your receiving
record format large enough?  Is the first record format in the DDS the one
doing the receive?

It depends on the communications method.  Async, Bisync, Intra, etc.  Each
protocol has a "xxx Programming Guide."  This manual has the return codes
listed in an appendix at the back.
