I _suspect_ that the above has nothing to do with your problems. More likely
you
are experiencing Database performance problems related to the creation and
maintenance of temporary access paths (that's just a guess too). While I can't
pretend to diagnose the problem from here, I have three hints for you:

1) Examine your SQL statements as they enter the QZDASOINIT servers. This can
be
done by placing an exit program on either the QIBM_QZDA_SQL1 or QIBM_QZDA_SQL2
exit points and writing the output to a file. Alternately you can download our
free product from http://www.400security.com/ and it will log these request for
you. You can analyze your requests from the reports.

2) If you have a little money to spend on a really slick database tuner, check
out CenterField Technologies offering at http://www.centerfieldtechnology.com/.
These guys really understand the issues you are facing (they're former IBM'ers
from the DB2/400 team) and have an offering that is specifically targeted at
database tuning from a Client Server perspective.

3) Try to get in contact with Kent Milligan from the IBM DB2/400 (or whatever
it's called these days) team. Kent hangs out on the comp.sys.ibm.as400.misc
newsgroup and regularly answer questions there. He deals with these issues all
the time and may be able to provide some quick advise.
