Embedded SQL in COBOL/400 -- MIDRANGE-L

Question 1.

Platform : AS/400
Language : SQLCBL
Operation : Selection of a record from a physical file
Problem  : Although the record is fetched successfully SQLCODE says
   "TOO MANY HOST VARIABLES"

This inspite of the fact that the number of host variables used is same as 
number of fields in the physical file.
