  • Subject: Advise needed "Bus failure during operation with I/O processor"

Hi all,
My model 500 IPLs correctly both in manual mode and normal mode.
In manual mode I get error message "Bus failure during operation with I/O
processor" and it clears after pressing enter.

in normal mode I dont get the message at all but it turns up in the job log
exact
sequence during IPL below.

Automatic configuration created controller description CTL01
Description for device DSP03 created.
Bus failure during operation with I/O processor
Controller CTL01 contacted on line *N
Device DSP03 not varied on

Additional Message Info by pressing Help reveals:
Bus failure during operation with I/O processor. All I/O processors on that
system bus are unable to communicate with the system processor.
Technical description….:The table ID is B600FA00. The Unit Reference code is
X’6900’.
The product activity log ID is X’80000B14’.
The problem log ID is 0011453444

My question is why didnt the IPL fail with a "system atten light " around
the C1XX BXXX.(I/O processor testing )
By going to the sign on screen and having a working system the IPL has
obviously checked the all the I/O processor testing hardware for faults so
Im I
correct in assuming that its not a hardware problem but some sort of startup
sequence "fallout" left in place by the previous owner?
(Going back even further in the history log studying the last owners startup
did not show this problem-but a ton of devices were manually deleted as part
of his file clean up--and paging down to my first IPL after his last we got
the above messages.)

I would be greatful for any clues on this minor annoyance.

cheers Dave
