Thank for your response.  I guess I'll have to tell my users not to work so
hard :) because upgrades come once a year at best and it's a long time until
January.  It seems that this topic sure has hit a nerve.  Most of the
comments suggest that converting to Client Server or, even better, browser
based applications is the answer.
This may provide a solution to poor system performance, but in a environment
that uses about 95% packaged (and virtually pure) applications it's not
going to happen.  We are beginning to use C/S and browser based applications
for reporting (inquiry) functions but the hard core of our ERP and WMS
systems are still "green screen" and I'm not convinced that moving them to a
much more fragile Novell network and Intel based processors will be a true
increase in performance.
