Update your ftp script file to reflect the contents of the variable.
UPDATE ftpscript
  SET cmdfield='put myfile newfile'
  WHERE cmdfield='put myfile oldfile'

Subject: FTP and variables

Hi,

I am trying to automate sending spool files to a FTP Server from our AS400.
The only real problem I am encountering is using a variable for the PC file
name. The main reason for using a variable is I want to include the date as
part of the file name. Is there a way to use a variable in the FTP PUT
command or perhaps there is another way around this?

Thanks,
