Melody --
Sounds like the LPD server on the "other side" from the AS/400 is ignoring
the copies request. COPIES is NOT a mandatory parameter in the LPR/LPD
standard and lots of LPD servers ignore it. Other AS/400 parameters are
ignored too such as page ranges (so beware if you send a big report to a
small printer)!

A work around is to include (uppercase) "XAIX" in the DESTOPT parameter of
the output queue on the AS/400. This will result in the file being resent
multiple times by the AS/400. For more info, see the TCP/IP configuration
and reference book (publication SC41-5420-03, section 11.4.5.1 in the copy
that came with V4R4). The book on the CD is QB3ANL03 on the CD. (Note: this
ONLY fixes the problem with the COPIES parameter.)

Subject: Multiple copies on TCP/IP outq described printers

We have several printers that are described to the AS400 as TCP/IP outq
printers (no device description) and we have noticed that spooled files with
multiple copies only print 1 copy to those printers. Any ideas on what
needs to be different to be able to get multiple copies?

Thanks...
