If there is a way, I am not programming in the most elegant manner

I have applications in which I have fields described like
QTY01 QTY02 QTY03 QTY04 QTY05 .... and on & on ... getting the layout keyed 
in is a bitch, then in a data structure I overlay these fields with an array 
named like QTY so that the program processes the array while the file spells 
out all these gory details ... I have another scenario in which a program 
passes an array through parms by using a data structure.
