Is it only signon sessions that drop? If so, the problem may be the system value
QINACTITV. When this system value is set, it will disconnect signon connections
when they have been idle for a certain length of time. Let me know if this
helps, good luck.

Dale,
If you have a look at the Midrange archieves under David Bulog
you will see a interesting thread aboubt this!
Come back to me if you can find it--this seems to be a generic
TCP/IP problem .

The only way I could work around the problem is to have a stored macro in
the terminal emulation session (CA or Rumba) which closes and reopens the
session the moment it is disconnected! for a general
user and in an MS application that uses a terminal emulation session it
goes a step further and logs the event and signs back into the AS/400 and
restarts the application.

Being a Microsoft person Im way out of my depth as to whats going on
at the AS/400 end.
The AS/400 AD team is trying to match the job logs with my own event
logs --no fix yet.
When I get my Model 500 up and running at home-my first task is learn
aboubt the above area--it has a 2617 ethernet card!.(I also have a E20 but
never got as far as chasing an ethernet card for it-so shamefuly over the
past year and a half of being on this list !)

Dave
