Carlos is not quite right, when you want to get your 4230 to work.
Here is how you can get it going:
Since the 423x is not capable of understanding PCL or PJL (the HP
Laserjet
Languages) you have to creat a remote OUTQ and not a PRT device.
The only difference in handling afterwards is that you cannot control a
broken
printjob like you could with a printer device (no page range definition
possible
for reprints) and other minor things.
And you have to start it with strrmtwtr instead of strprtwtr ....
But back to the defintiopn of the object for the printer:
what you need to define with a CRTOUTQ command is the name of that queue
on the
printserver (your HP box), in case of an outq there is no port
definition for this.
So for HP Jetdirect boxes it goes:
RAW 1 for the first port
RAW 2 for the second
RAW 3 and thats for formatted outputs.
If you want it unformatted, use:
TEXT1
TEXT2
and TEXT3 .
JetDirect internal uses 'raw' and 'text' likewise,
there is a bunch of other printboxes which are very well explained in
document
no. 8233537 available on as400service.rochester.ibm.com .

Hope this helps,
