C'mon, Booth, it's just another way of setting up a counter loop that's more
like other languages.  I have a friend who's been programming in RPG since
the system 3 who never coded a DO counter loop because he thought the
positional notation was counterintuitive.  (He's very good, by the way.) He
codes his counter loops in a DOW with explicit addition or subtraction.  It
doesn't hurt anyone to have a free form analogue to the DO construct.
