Kirk,

It does, because I use it with Express and TCP/IP. I used ports 5500
and 5502, but any two available ports should work as long as you
define them on both the PC and AS/400 side.

I just intentionally changed the port number on just the PC side, but
then got "Error opening session. Connection refused by server." So I
didn't replicate it by mismatched port numbers. Besides, if WRKTCPSTS
is showing an established state, than the ports must be matched.

The job under the Flex sbs, is it the DISPATCHER program with a job
name of FLEXJOBD, or does it have a job name like SVR000nJOB? The
DISPATCHER job should be active all the time, even with nobody
connected. When you establish a connection you should also have an
additional job with a name like SVR0002JOB.

If that job doesn't exist under the FLEX subsystem, see if there is a
joblog with a user data entry of SVR0002JOB as it may provide some
clues. If you have neither an active job nor a joblog, then the
Dispatcher is not invoking the server process for the connection.

What release of OS/400 is he running? Does he get the same thing if
he tries a different function first, such as Submit Remote Command or
working with the library list?
