You may want to check two things.

Scope of the override for ODP share *JOB

Positioning of record pointer should not be tough as you can do it in either
progA or ProgB as long
as the FILEA shares the same ODP in both programs.

Subject: QONQRYF Question

I am running a single opnqryf command in a CLP program. Within this program
I am doing a call to an RPG program and after it finishes I am calling
another. Both programs use the same file that I am running the OPNQRYF
command over. I remember about being able to reset the file cursor to the
begining of the file so I would not have to run the OPNQRYF command for the
second Program. For example:

PGM
OVRDBF FILEA SHARE(*YES)
OPNQRYF FILEA QRYSLT(*ALL)
CALL PROG1
CALL PROG2
DLTOVR *ALL
ENDPGM
