Another tip:

Be sure any machine you think about buying used has a LEGAL copy of OS/400 (or
any other licensed programs on the disk) at V4. Prior to V4 the license does NOT
pass from the original licensee w/o charges from IBM. I can't remember all the
details off hand from the announcement letter but I'm not even sure that a V4
license passes from the original licensee unless the machine shipped with it
(i.e. I'm not sure upgrades from V3 can pass on w/o charge). Just because V4
licensed programs are on the machine doesn't mean they are LEGAL so check w/IBM
before you buy. Any legitimate seller will give you the serial number of the
machine so you can check. Also, don't even consider buying a used machine to run
OS/400 V4 unless it has AT LEAST 64 Meg. of memory!
