I just moved from managing a mixed NT/Novell network over to the AS/400, same
company.. This was by choice, and I do not regret it. The AS/400 is so much
easier to support. I cannot count the number of support calls I have placed
with Microsoft/Novell, yet go unresolved. The usual answer is to replace
hardware and hope the combo of hardware/software starts working. We use 100%
Compaq hardware. I still have issues on my Novell with Btrieve that neither
Novell, nor Pervasive can resolve - they point fingers at each other, and Issue
with NT that Microsoft gave up on.

With the AS/400 the support staff work hard to resolve your issues and stick
with
it until the problem is resolved. The answer is usually the same, a patch or
PTF
- however IBM is more forthcoming on these.

We have spent much more that $6000 on downtime with the Novell/NT Network this
year..
