Gary. Documentation in is OS/400 Backup and Recovery, section 1.1.13,
document # SC41-5304-02 (This is V4R3).

The basics are that the system sends a message to a message queue that you
specifiy in the system Value QUPSMSGQ. The system uses the value of system
value QUPSDLYTIM to determine how to respond to the message.

This is very simple overview. Lot more to it.

If you have an interest, I have written a program that does the UPS Monitor
with all control values coming from data areas. Written in CLLE and includes
logic to handle short waits on power failure and repeated warning messages
on long power failures and graceful shutdown. Another one of those things I
have been wanting to get posted.

Let me know if you have an interest.

Thanks.

Subject: UPS info

On our v3r2 CISC box we have a Powerware Plus 6 UPS
connected to the AS/400 via a data cable. We can't find any
documentation as to how or what it is communicating. It is plugged
into a port labeled J14 but would like to know if that is a dedicated
UPS com port, is UPS notification a built-in OS piece, etc? We are
contemplating getting a new UPS.

Thanks for any help.
