Is the subnet of your AS400 in the same subnet as your smtp gateway?  If
not, you will need a router or router/firewall software on a PC.  You can
then define a route on your AS400 to send from one subnet to another via the
router.  The other choice it to assign your AS400 a second IP address in the
same subnet as your smtp gateway, but then you have no firewall between your
AS400 and the internet.  Look at option 2 from CFGTCP or use the command
ADDTCPRTE.

one can give me some advice or point me to a faq or something.

when i do a snddst i get a error no route to smtp gateway.
