It is far too easy to blame the consultant.  They show up for a short period 
of time and companies expect them to perform miracles.  We have had 3 month 
contracts that have turned into year plus contracts, but it is because 
companies approve of our work and want more done.  We have also had 
contracts that we get done what we are contracted for and get out because 
some companies want everything for nothing and any problem associated with a 
system becomes the consultants fault, even when the problem existed prior to 
the consultant touching the code.  My point is, maybe you had a bad 
experience with A SINGLE CONSULTANT/FIRM or you are one of those other 
companies I talked about, but either way there are good and bad 
people/companies on both sides of the fence and you cann't lump everyone 
into a single group.
