This battery is NOT to run the machine but rather to back up MAIN STORAGE in
case of a power failure where your UPS runs out of gas and the machine is not
shutdown, OR the UPS flat Dies. I have had TWO customers experience this in the
last week and both were whole room brand name less than two year old UPSs. If
you crash hard without this memory backup battery the next IPL goes from Bad to
double ugly. Having the memory backed up allows the system to copy it to disk
when the power comes up and then use that in the IPL recovery phase.

MULIC is by it's name Model Unique and was for the 'F' boxes and prior, in
this
case you would actually get FULIC (Feature Unique). My understanding is that the
FULIC should come with the processor upgrade and is loaded only once at upgrade
time. If you need to re-load the FULIC then you are in REAL big trouble.

You need to tell them if it is QIC, 8MM, 3490, 3570 etc so the FULIC can be
provided on the proper media.

 Sorry No experience here.
